Summer Break is Here

15 May

So here is the end of my junior year.  I’m still up packing and really realizing that I won’t be seeing my favorite UIS folks till January 2011!  I’m really going to miss some people but I’m excited to see what England offers me. What a year this was,  I realized so many things.

This time next year I will be graduating….wow.

Growing Up Blues

27 Apr

Does anyone ever feel that there is so much to be done in your life and in the world that it’s almost depressing? I’m not the kind of person who worries much at all but I do have my moments. Honestly 90% of the time when I worry its about others.  It’s annoying feeling but I know that spiritually worrying is not something for me.

Ugh I’m having one of those days.

Junior year is coming to an end…YES! lol

24 Apr

Taking a break from my tedious research paper to tell you that I will be studying abroad fall semester of my senior year  at the University of Hull:)  Pretty much everything is good to go and I just have to confirm financial aid this month.  Then in August I’ll get my classes and I need to get a plane ticket.  So it’s good to have study abroad pretty much figured out.

Now if I could get a decent summer job back home, take my GRE, apply to grad school and graduate with my mind still intact I’ll be an happy soul.

P.S.

Also, a short note to the state of Illinois: it might be nice for you to pay the schools that you supposedly support the money that you own them…just a thought.  Education in Illinois is in a ridiculous place right now. I may not be an education student anymore but that doesn’t mean I’m not concerned about education here.

…and one more thing

31 Mar

I dropped my secondary education minor and replaced it with anthropology and sociology btw.

Long time no see…

31 Mar

So it’s been forever and even spring break has passed and let me say it definitely was not long enough.  I’ve been busy trying to get my tons of stuff together so that I study abroad next year at the University of Hull.   It’s been an interesting experience just doing all the paper work except I have a handy dandy Brit, Kiri, to help me out. She actually goes to Hull and has really helped me.  We’re both history majors who share a history class here at UIS and I’m happy to have met her, it  makes me want to go to Hull even more :) . Shout out to my “mate” Kiri (lol sorry you know I had to do it).

Adding to my present quarter life crisis at the moment is the looming cloud of graduate school.  I want to go to grad school it’s true but my goodness looking at the requirements for grad school, picking schools, paying for college AGAIN, and the…duh duh duh….GRE is just plain exhausting to think about.

I can’t believe that I’m almost done with my bachelors degree and becoming an actual adult…it’s terrifying.

Winter break!!!

23 Dec

This is pretty late but just wanted to say I hope everyone did good on finals and that winter break is treating you all well.

Good luck to my friend and fellow blogger Tyler who is studying abroad in England next semester and who is graduating after only 2 years!  Hopefully when I grow up I can be as cool as him.

Thanks also to everyone who turned out to the Stress Buster program their was a pretty large turnout and was pretty fun and I hope to see even more people next semester there.  For you all who don’t know Stress Busters is a program done by the peer mentors to ease the stress of finals week so we have good food and activities like coloring, games, movies and all those kiddie things that make you relax.

That’s it: Happy (belated) Hanukkah and an early Merry Christmas!

Thanksgiving Break!!!

20 Nov

So my Thanksgiving break started just in time on Wednesday at 5:40pm my last class :) The class couldn’t have ended better.  It was my History of Christmas class and a girl did a presentation on Christmas baked goods and treats.  Then she whipped out homemade cookies and candy for everyone. Awesome lol. Yesterday I went to the Career Center here at UIS for an extra credit assignment but it turned out to come really at a great time for me.  Since I changed my educational plans recently and soon I’ve got to start considering grad school (ahhh can’t believe that) it was time to really start thinking about all those things.  The career counselor was really helpful and nice and I really would suggest everyone try their career center out wherever you go. She’s helping me narrow down my appropriate majors, grad schools, and careers choices since pretty much I have such a wide variety of interests.  Although, originally I just did it for extra credit  (25 points!) I was happy with the results and I’m planning to meet with her again after break.  So that my little PSA for the moment.  Going home today yay! Later.

I don’t know about all that…

7 Nov

So I just finished a paper that took my waaayyy too long to finish but I’m done it’s over and I’m feeling pretty much better except for my crusty nose :/

Anyway pretty much today I decided to that I’m going to drop my teacher education minor before this semester it is out. It turns out for me that it is going to be way too impractical for me since I’m almost done with my history major. Otherwise, my teacher education program (TEP) advisor told me it would be an additional 2 YEARS before I graduate!!! 2013! That is when my college freshman brother is supposed to graduate for goodness sake. Also, this doesn’t mean that people shouldn’t consider TEP at UIS but I would definitely suggest you get started on the coursework early. By far this doesn’t mean I’m over education but I’ll have to be certified later when I get my Master’s. Until then I’m a lil ole history major but that is a-okay with me : )

The Swine!

3 Nov

So as I sit here with a running congested nose (if that makes sense), remenants of a sore throat, and stiff neck. The other night was even worse though because let’s just say my dinner came back to visit me :/ Good thing UIS has flu kits…what would I do without small packs of salt, Lifesavers, and throwaway thermometers? But really it was a good sentiment. Today I got to catch up on episodes of Tool Academy, Black to the Past, and Tyra Banks Show.  So….I think we can count this as a success.

Later I’ll get around to posting some pics from like 2 weekends ago of when my BFF came here and about BSU week a little bit.
