This is pretty late but just wanted to say I hope everyone did good on finals and that winter break is treating you all well.

Good luck to my friend and fellow blogger Tyler who is studying abroad in England next semester and who is graduating after only 2 years!  Hopefully when I grow up I can be as cool as him.

Thanks also to everyone who turned out to the Stress Buster program their was a pretty large turnout and was pretty fun and I hope to see even more people next semester there.  For you all who don’t know Stress Busters is a program done by the peer mentors to ease the stress of finals week so we have good food and activities like coloring, games, movies and all those kiddie things that make you relax.

That’s it: Happy (belated) Hanukkah and an early Merry Christmas!

Thanksgiving Break!!! November 20, 2009

So my Thanksgiving break started just in time on Wednesday at 5:40pm my last class :) The class couldn’t have ended better.  It was my History of Christmas class and a girl did a presentation on Christmas baked goods and treats.  Then she whipped out homemade cookies and candy for everyone. Awesome lol. Yesterday I went to the Career Center here at UIS for an extra credit assignment but it turned out to come really at a great time for me.  Since I changed my educational plans recently and soon I’ve got to start considering grad school (ahhh can’t believe that) it was time to really start thinking about all those things.  The career counselor was really helpful and nice and I really would suggest everyone try their career center out wherever you go. She’s helping me narrow down my appropriate majors, grad schools, and careers choices since pretty much I have such a wide variety of interests.  Although, originally I just did it for extra credit  (25 points!) I was happy with the results and I’m planning to meet with her again after break.  So that my little PSA for the moment.  Going home today yay! Later.

So I just finished a paper that took my waaayyy too long to finish but I’m done it’s over and I’m feeling pretty much better except for my crusty nose :/

Anyway pretty much today I decided to that I’m going to drop my teacher education minor before this semester it is out. It turns out for me that it is going to be way too impractical for me since I’m almost done with my history major. Otherwise, my teacher education program (TEP) advisor told me it would be an additional 2 YEARS before I graduate!!! 2013! That is when my college freshman brother is supposed to graduate for goodness sake. Also, this doesn’t mean that people shouldn’t consider TEP at UIS but I would definitely suggest you get started on the coursework early. By far this doesn’t mean I’m over education but I’ll have to be certified later when I get my Master’s. Until then I’m a lil ole history major but that is a-okay with me : )

ps: On a random note what do you think of Chris Brown’s new video “I Can Transform Ya”? Personally as soon as I saw him shirtless and the beat kicked in…well I was feeling it. I’m still not happy about his little Ike Turner moment though. What you think?

So as I sit here with a running congested nose (if that makes sense), remenants of a sore throat, and stiff neck. The other night was even worse though because let’s just say my dinner came back to visit me :/ Good thing UIS has flu kits…what would I do without small packs of salt, Lifesavers, and throwaway thermometers? But really it was a good sentiment. Today I got to catch up on episodes of Tool Academy, Black to the Past, and Tyra Banks Show.  So….I think we can count this as a success.

Later I’ll get around to posting some pics from like 2 weekends ago of when my BFF came here and about BSU week a little bit.

I’m going to let you finish but Brandi Parker is the best homecoming queen of all time…ALL TIME October 21, 2009

Sorry for not making a post sooner. Here’s some pictures from UIS homecoming 2009 it was Wizard of Oz themed. It was pretty fun and got a good turnout. Two friends of mine were homecoming king and queen, Brandi and Justin so here’s a belated congratulations to them.  There were fireworks at the end of the week after the homecoming soccer game that were pretty nice. My housemates and I on Saturday had our own little day. I went to the mall and Los Agaves (my new favorite Mexican restaurant in Springfield) with Rachel and Amy. Then we met with everybody else and saw Toy Story in 3D, first time I saw a 3D movie so I had fun plus who doesn’t love Toy Story? Here’s some pictures:

Anyway this week is Fat Talk Free Week which is a program instituted by the Tri Deltas. It’s a week when you don’t criticize your body and you refrain from critiquing anyone else’s body for the week. It actually started Monday but late than never, right? Big ups to Itzi Llamas for sending an invite about it on Facebook. Check out a video about it:

Also, today UIS women’s center had a similar program that was about loving and respecting your body today. Here’s another video because I don’t feel like explaining today :) :

Okay that’s it for now but you’re more than welcome to post comments and I might make another post this week when I actually feel like talking.

Hi everyone! I’m so happy to be making my first post for prospective and present UIS students to read. If you haven’t already noticed the title of my blog is inspired by the famous Canadian show Degrassi: The Next Generation. I pretty much love that show but more on that later.

Sooooo….I can’t believe it’s almost October already. I haven’t been up to a lot but I have been trying to get a little more involved in school (become a UIS blogger was one of those ventures) and this is my second year as a Capital Honors Scholars (CAP) peer mentor. This is also my first year as a writing and Spanish tutor, we’ll see how well that Spanish part goes :/ Plus, I’m trying to get involved with History and Spanish Club (whenever it comes back). Anyway this past weekend, which starts on Thursdays for me, was pretty calm. Thursday I had peer mentor “training” which translates as meeting with other peer mentors, eating free pizza, and planning events for our mentees. Not a bad deal. On Friday, I went to synagogue in Springfield for extra credit in my “Judaism,Christianity, Islam” class and it was good experience since I’ve been interested in the Jewish faith for some time now. I’m looking forward to going to mosque (or masjid) later this semester too. It’s a great history class and I love my other class , “History of Christmas”, (yes, that is a class) with the same professor who is awesome.

That’s pretty much all I’ve got for you right now but before I go let me inform those unfortunate people who don’t know about Degrassi. Like I said it’s a Canadian show about teenage drama and what not. It is also the show from where the up-and-coming rapper now known as ‘Drake’, who’s real name is Aubrey, was a main character. Anyways here’s a clip:

I took a Degrassi-related quiz on this website : http://www.teennick.com/quizzes/quiz_index.php

but unfortunately I can’t get my results to post right on here.

I welcome everyone to make comments about my blog, about what’s going on with you, suggestions, your quiz results, whatever you want as long as it’s nice :) Enough of my babbling and randomness.

Just sayin’
